At 2PM on May 19th, The Blood Arm is planning a free concert along the
U8 U-Bahn line in Berlin. Admission is the price of an U-Bahn ticket!

The U8 underground/metro line runs from the North to the South of the
city. It has 24 stops and takes about an hour to travel from start
(Wittenau) to finish (Hermannstraße), taking in some of Berlin’s
busiest stations including Alexanderplatz and Kottbusser Tor.

With a keyboard and an acoustic guitar, Dyan (keyboardist) and
Nathaniel (singer) will stop at every station to play a different song
along the way. All contributions go to the recording of their new
album “Sister City.”

Join us! We will be performing the first song at Wittenau station at 2
p.m. on Saturday…meet us there, or come see us along the way!

We will be posting videos of the performances on the website for our
Pledge Music campaign as an exclusive for pledgers only. We have
raised 60% of the funds needed to make our new album, so we still need
your help! We are offering lots of special incentives, so check it out
and make a pledge here: http://www.pledgemusic.com/projects/thebloodarm

Here he is after rehearsal yesterday:

Below is a personal message from Nathaniel…

It’s been a wild trip.

Dyan decided to move to Berlin with her boyfriend Eddie in early 2011. She packed up everything she couldn’t sell and shoved off for some good fun and a big change of scenery. Well I like fun and change (I’m a Sagittarius) and I was going craaaaaaaaaazy in L.A. (which you can hear all about on our new album Sister City), so I decided to shake things up and follow her across the world! I sold all my records (which numbered in the thousands) and my worldly belongings (lots of mirrors, lots of lamps, lots of junk and a car even!) packed up my son Jackie (a four year old shih-tzu—his birthday is February 9th and he’s an Aquarius. A match made in heaven!) and made my way across the Atlantic to join Dyan with dreams of Iggy Pop and David Bowie in my head.

Berlin, a bigger beast than even I am, did not let me down. (Thanks Dyan!) This city has been an incredible inspiration and we have the album to prove it.

But we need your help! We are right now a completely self-funded band. And although we are able to scrape by living on music, we’re unable to pay to make this record ourselves. As of today we have 23 great songs written for Sister City with more on the way. Don’t worry, it won’t be a double album, just an album of very well chosen, exciting songs that we hope will touch you in some small way. This is why we make music and this is why we are doing this Pledge campaign. We want these songs, which we have toiled over and lived through, to sound amazing and we want you to be a part of the experience. In addition to the incentives you see here, we’ll be updating this page with special tidbits from the recording process and musings on our lives here in Berlin. We’re also donating a portion of the proceeds to the American Red Cross. What do you say?
