Woke up to a Cain and Abel nightmare
and much to my surprise
there was no sleeping anymore, no dreaming
only the horror of being alive

I went for a walk in death’s valley
and looked at the terrible sky
where everything hangs in the balance
the chaos and writhing of time

Scars that stretch forever and
pain that doesn’t subside
planets in ancient formations
and stars like glimmering knives

I had to face the future
with eyes both open wide
So I read it all like a poem
and my thoughts came in bloody red tides
